Exploring the Union of the Ephemeral and the Eternal: A Link between the Breeze and Memories in Anna & Eugeni Bach's Project with TIMELESS and LA SIESTA
In the charming house "Dirk and the Chocolate Factory", we find an extraordinary setting to welcome summer, where outdoor spaces become protagonists, highlighting the TIMELESS collection and the refreshing LA SIESTA botijo in all its splendor. This residential project is located in Girona and was conceived and carried out by the studio of Anna & Eugeni Bach , who transformed an old chocolate factory into a dream home and studio.
Located in the heart of the town center of the picturesque Empordà town of La Bisbal, this industrial warehouse, which dates back to the 19th century, surprises with its structure of stone walls and three large floors. Each floor exhibits its own identity, combining elements such as metal structures and beams, Catalan vaults, wooden joists and rasilla roofs finished with ceramic tiles.
The outdoor spaces have been intelligently designed to make the most of the warm Mediterranean climate. They now include a small but charming swimming pool in the center of the courtyard, as well as a semi-covered terrace with elegant metal beams and a reed structure that plays with the sunlight, creating captivating shadows. The living room on the ground floor, the porch, the kitchen, the dining room and the terrace on the first floor are harmoniously organized around these outdoor spaces, establishing a fluid connection between the interior and the environment.
From the heart of the home, the patio, we immerse ourselves in the timeless universe of TIMELESS , which integrates perfectly into the project, contributing to the continuous fusion between interior and exterior. The TIMELESS series, conceived in 2018 by José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales and Borja García, communicates through a simple geometry executed with high-quality materials, such as welded thermo-lacquered aluminum, teak wood and ultra-compact Dekton® mineral surfaces. This combination guarantees resistance, functionality and an aesthetic that aspires to last over time.
With its discreet yet striking design, four TIMELESS sectionals form a generous sofa that seems to gently merge with the air, water and land that surrounds it. The white structure frames the seats and backrests made of polyurethane foam rubber and polyester fiber, covered with Jover Atlas Plain technical outdoor fabric in a white tone with a bouclé-type texture that is soft and natural, transmitting a feeling of warmth. Some cushions, upholstered in Sunbrella Domino Joker in summer colors and iridescent tones, add a touch of sophistication and vitality. Next to the sofa is a coffee table with removable legs and a Dekton® Zenith surface with a clean, matte finish.
In another area of the patio, the TIMELESS loungers convey the essence of the collection, inspired by architectural rationalism and characterized by pure lines and neutral colors, without unnecessary decorations. These chaise longues are upholstered in Kvadrat 's durable white Patio Outdoor fabric, made with a Trevira CS yarn specially designed for outdoors. Accompanying the sun loungers, a square sun lounger table with Dekton® Aura top perfectly complements the environment.
Right between the impressive rustic-style glass doors, and a few steps from the pool, we find four XS TIMELESS armchairs with cushions upholstered in the same white Patio Outdoor fabric and two side tables from the same collection with Dekton® Zenith top. These elements create an informal and personalized refuge, enhanced by the cushions upholstered in the Eden Blu fabric, which provide a touch of color and vitality.
On the rustic clay tiles of the Empordà estate, are the charming contemporary jugs of LA SIESTA , a reinvention of a design icon that recovers traditional materials and textures. These terracotta bottles, conceived by Alberto Martínez and Héctor Serrano and Raky Martínez, merge the appearance of a bottle of mineral water with the essence of a traditional object that connects with nature, light and the passion for outdoor life, thus representing the perfect harmony between tradition and innovation.
