Marcel Wanders (1963, Boxtel, The Netherlands) is a Dutch designer who is advocating for a more romantic and humanist thinking within the world of design.
Marcel Wanders Studio is a leading interior and product design studio located in the creative capital of Amsterdam. The studio has more than 1,900 interior design experiences and iconic products worldwide for private clients and premium brands such as Alessi, Baccarat, Bisazza, Christofle, Kosé Corporation / Decorté, Flos, KLM, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, LH&E Group, Louis Vuitton, Miramar Group, Morgans Hotel Group, Puma, among many others.
Removing the boundaries of traditional thinking, Marcel Wanders proposes bold and beautiful solutions that touch the hearts and minds of people.
He graduated Cum Laude from the Amsterdam University of the Arts ( AHK) Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten, in 1988, after being expelled from the Eindhoven Academy of Design.
Marcel Wanders opened his Powerhouse studio in Amsterdam in 1995, gaining worldwide attention in 1996 with his iconic “Knotted ” chair, where he mixed high-tech materials with “low-tech” production methods.
This Powerhouse Studio has been located, since 2006, in the vibrant center of the Jordaan neighborhood (Amsterdam).
In 2001 Marcel Wanders co-founded the successful design label Moooi, in which he has a triple role: acting as owner, art director and also product designer for the company.
Under the Creative leadership by Marcel Wanders, supported by Gabriele Chiave since 2014, the multidisciplinary team of 50 international design specialists exudes creativity through more than 1,700 iconic projects completed.
Like Marcel Wanders, each brand has its own heritage, its own DNA, with which the Studio merges the best of two worlds to create an extraordinary new reality.
